Franchise Filming, Trevor Rappleye

What does a typical day at CorporateFilming & FranchiseFilming look like for you?

A typical day of CorporateFilming is always fun. I wake up LOVING what I do and am so excited to see our team, talk to our clients and tell stories. I am mostly in charge of vision, sales and growth and that is the bulk of my day. I make a ton of sales calls and keep in touch with our partners. My usual work day is 6am – 4pm as I love to run or go catch the sunset by the beach. I try and make 30 plus calls a day and really put a vision plan in place and develop the team so we can all scale and lead together!

What do you like most about working with CorporateFilming & FranchiseFilming?

I love the team. I love their passion. I love hearing a business story that warms my heart. I love going into our office as we have gorgeous 7th story views of the skyline. I am a very sentimental person so I always think back to when we had a 70 foot office back in 2014 with no windows or no walls. We had 3 staff in there at once!  But really, my favorite thing about CorporateFilming is that our staff loves what they do and to see their happiness every day is so humbling.

How long have you been filming or editing? When did it start?

I fell in love with filming back in 2013, at age 13. I actually started my first business (Dvds2Remember.net) at this age and was making $13 a DVD converting VHS to digital. Wow, times have changed!  I grabbed my dad’s 20 pound VHS camera and just filmed authentic moments. I loved the moments that were unplanned. It is really where I fell in love with authenticity and story. Even today, we roll the camera sometimes before we start the interview because people will sometimes say the most authentic things!

I also filmed and edited my first wedding at age 15 and once again- fell in love with story. The emotion. The happiness. I have always been a fan of interviews, asking questions that will evoke emotion and just make people feel something.

We call ourselves “Passionate Storytellers” here at CorporateFilming & FranchiseFilming. What does that topic mean to you? How important is story in marketing?

Passionate Storytellers is a topic I stand behind more than anything else. Anyone can film. Anyone can go buy a camera online and film someone talking. That is not hard. What we STRIVE for here at CorporateFilming is telling a story.  I have also found that some companies want basic videos with stock footage – that is not us. We want to go into a business, unscripted and ask questions that tell a story and evoke emotion.

We get marketed to over 100 times a day. This is why story is so important. Story makes people stop, listen and watch. The best stories are not pre-scripted. The best stories are full of emotion, authenticity and vulnerability. This is what we shoot for.

What have been your favorite projects with CorporateFilming and FranchiseFilming?

Well, all clients are our favorite! But really, my favorite project was back in 2016 for Go Minis where we shot a TV style ad on the beach and we found the actors, wrote the story and created the whole concept. This was going to be used for a B2C video to drive sales at the consumer level by telling the story of Go Minis. It was my first production as a director and man, I was nervous. It was a blast and we had such talent around to make it a successful shoot.

What are some things you enjoy doing outside of work? What makes you unique?

I love my job, Really. I also love to run and read at the beach. I set aside time every Sunday (No matter what!) to bike 6 miles and read at the beach for 2+ hours. I also referee D1 college soccer, am a triplet and love dogs. My mom and dad had 5 kids and they are saints!

Customer experience and service is our top core value here at CorporateFilming & FranchiseFilming. Why is that so important?

One of my core values I promised myself as I scaled the company was to have a strong focus on the customer experience and level of service. It goes back to anyone can film a video- but who can meet deadlines, answer phone calls on the first ring and make people smile? That’s us!

The customer experience that we do is:

  • Disco ball and name on the wall when you come into the office

  • Donuts on site

  • Selfie picture and then we mail you the frame

  • Surprising clients with random gifts and videos

Customer experience is so important in this day and age. We love to find ways to make clients smile. This is what separates businesses and makes them stand out.

One final question. If you could give any video marketing advice…what would it be?

Stop creating 5 minute videos. Please, stop filming yourself in front of a wall.  I beg you! Don’t just have your CEO say something- film 5 staff members and 5 customers about how your business has helped improve their life.

Create 30-60 second videos a couple times a month to engage prospects and clients. If you are not creating content online, you are not relevant. It’s the harsh truth.

Please, tell a story and put the script away. 🙂 Film happiness. Film how my life can improve if I choose your company.

Tell us a corny joke…Go!
