CorporateFilming is pleased to release our fourth podcast episode. This one features Ben Conard, founder of Five North Chocolate.
Five North Chocolate is a chocolate snack company that focuses on snackability and providing the guilt free pleasure of chocolate. The chocolates come in packages that are convenient for portability. They are filled with good-for-you ingredients like dark chocolate covered goji berries, cinnamon almonds and sea salt pistachios.
Founder Ben Conard dedicates himself to Fair Trade, sustainability and social entrepreneurship. He has been named one of the Top 10 Biggest Fair Trade Advocates in the World and one of 40 LGBT Leaders Under 40. He has taken the stage at TEDx Talk Meetings and has gained cultural experience working on farms in Ecuador and in artisan workshops in India.
Conard’s passion comes through in everything he does for Five North Chocolate. It is an award-winning Certified LGBT Business and an Enterprise Fair Trade Certified business.
The entrepreneur’s experience makes him a go-to for business advice, but he stresses having fun along the way.
One thing Conard emphasizes is the importance of innovation. “We’re constantly iterating. We are constantly launching and innovating in our already established brand.”
He also highlights how essential it is to invest in yourself. He talks about the importance of staying healthy saying, “In the spirit of investing in yourself, I would recommend that everybody truly work hard and sanction a solid eight hours of your day to sleep.”
Conard also shares his knowledge of the German language, offering a phrase that translates to, “Chocolate is one of my favorite things to eat, which is perfect because now it’s my job too.”
Host and CorporateFilming CEO, Trevor Rappleye also interspersed his words of wisdom.
Always one to promote authenticity, here’s a quote concerning misperceptions about perfection. “I feel that we all shoot to be perfect; but how do you define perfect? Perfect doesn’t actually exist.”
Ever the salesman, Rappleye discusses how important it is to be persistent in the business world. “We both know in sales that a ‘no’ is just a ‘no’ for now. It’s not a ‘no’ forever”.
